Free The Sea

Free the Sea is a company established focusing on recycling marine-bound
plastic waste to create a long-lasting environment on Riau Island. Why Free the sea?
According to statistical data, Indonesia ranks second in terms of domestic solid
waste, amounting to 5.4 million tonnes or 14% of waste production. Because of this, a
PT. Free the sea is a subsidiary of PT. WIK. PT Free the sea is engaged in waste
processing, which invites the whole community to process waste so that it is useful
and has economic value for the family.

To maintain the ecosystem and clean the environment, the waste is processed
directly into plastic pellets by PT Free The Sea. The Free The Sea company socializes
to all people, both companies and schools in the community, that the Free The Sea
company can provide services for recycling waste.

This year, the inauguration of PT Free The Sea was held at Panbil Industrial
Estate, Muka Kuning, Batam (Thursday, 9/03/2023). In this activity, PT Free The
Sea also invited one of the schools in Batam, namely SMA Maitreyawira Batam,
which was named 'Baswira' (Bank trash Maitreyawira). Mrs. Mariati, the Principal of
SMA Maitreyawira Batam chose Mr. Darmawan as the person in charge who will
guide the students of SMA Maitreyawira Batam who will participate in Free The Sea
activities.

The reason why SMA Maitreyawira Batam took part in the Free The Sea
activity was that "It can realize the vision, mission, aspirations, and enthusiasm of
SMA Maitreyawira Batam who loves and loves nature and shows behavior as one of
the driving schools that implements the Garbage Bank program well and can
participate in socializing the Garbage Bank program to the public to participate in
implementing the Garbage Bank program in their environment, to create a healthier
and cleaner environment," said Nella as the bazaar stand guard and part of Baswira.

Cindy said that this was a new experience that she got from activities outside
of school. Starting from being invited by PT Free the sea to conduct an exhibit,
having the opportunity to meet one of the ministers in the maritime sector, and being
able to learn directly from the PT Free the sea factory. He hopes that in the future,
the Baswira team can be invited back to PT Free the sea activities, as well as other
environmental care activities, and become one of the pioneers and motivations for
the surroundings and the wider community.

There are also several activities carried out in Free The Sea activities:
1. Plastic waste processing exhibition:
Many products were displayed by Baswira, including Eco enzymes and crafts made
from processed plastic.

The enthusiasm from the students was enormous while promoting school activities
with the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar
Pandjaitan and Mr. Markus Steckhan, Chief Strategy Officer of WIK Group.
